William Bohn

December 25, 1938 — May 19, 2025

William James Bohn passed away unexpectedly from a fall at his home in Pinetop, Arizona, on May 19, 2025. He was 86.

A funeral in his honor will be held on May 31, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the LDS chapel in Pinetop. Visitation will be at 9:00 a.m.

Bill was born on December 25, 1938, in Ypsilanti, Michigan, where he grew up his entire childhood. Bill excelled as a baseball pitcher through high school and into college. He was a student-athlete at the University of Utah where he met Linda Hale, who was studying ballet. Bill and Linda married on June 6, 1961, and were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Bill's academic interests led him to the study of German, in which he ultimately obtained a Ph.D. from Michigan State University in 1969. He accepted a teaching position at the University of Arkansas where he was a professor of German romantic literature and philosophy and was also an LDS Institute instructor. Bill changed careers to work as a retail jeweler in Baltimore, Maryland, and Detroit, Michigan. He later accepted a position as a Seiko watch representative in Arizona where he ended his career. In a "second career," Bill returned to his love of teaching as an online instructor of humanities at Northland Pioneer College.

Bill was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served faithfully in various Church callings wherever he and Linda lived, but his most rewarding assignment was serving as a Sunday School teacher in his ward. While Bill loved the arts and spending time in nature, his scholarly inclinations compelled him to constantly study the scriptures, as well as religious books and writings, leading him to write several articles and publish four books with commentary and insights about Jesus Christ and His Gospel.

Bill is survived by his wife Linda to whom he was married for almost 64 years; his children Mark (Denise), Cheryl Lindblom (Bryan), Lisa Clifford (Randy), Jennifer O'Twomney (Robert), Stephen and David; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his dog Molly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Wanda Bohn, and his in-laws, Theron and Shirley Hale.

Friends and family are invited to a funeral service for Bill on May 31, 2025, at the Buck Springs Chapel, 4075 Buck Springs Road, Pinetop, Arizona 85935, at 10:00 a.m. with visitation at 9:00 a.m.

A graveside service will be held afterward at the Show Low Cemetery at 11:30 a.m.
