It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Theresa Alice Brown Burnette.
Theresa was born on January 13, 1944, in Miami, Arizona, to the late Homer Brown and Juanita Q. Manuel. She passed away on August 14, 2026, at Whiteriver IHS. She will be remembered for her kind heart, her love for her family, and the many special memories she created throughout her life.
Theresa enjoyed doing word searches, sewing, storytelling, and cooking. She was known for making her huge, extra-large tortillas, a special part of her cooking that her family and friends will fondly remember.
Theresa leaves behind her husband of 40 years, Jasper Burnette; her children, Susie P. Crocker, Lela Pailzote, Jenny Metoxen (Portland, OR), Quinten Riley, Tuesday Moody, Derrick Burnette, and Jessica Burnette; her sisters, Mary Manuel (Phoenix, AZ), Rose Carrillo (Phoenix, AZ), Arlene Rubio (Phoenix, AZ), and Sue Kurley (Zuni, NM); her brother, Franklin Quintero and aunt Mayhome Rolland.
Theresa was blessed with 19 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, who will carry her memory and the love she shared with them in their hearts.
In addition to her immediate family, Theresa leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members from Quintero Springs and San Carlos.
Theresa was preceded in death by her grandparents, Elihu "Joe" Quintero and Lela Quintero; her brothers, Bernard Brown and Richard Manuel Jr; and her daughters, Carrie P. Nosie and Gina Pailzote.
A public viewing will be held for Theresa Burnette on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at Jasper Burnette's residence, 414 S. 1st St., Whiteriver, beginning at 8:00 AM.
Home services will begin at 12:00 PM, with Pastor Ron Burnette officiating. Interment will follow at the Whiteriver Cemetery.
All are welcome to attend these services.
The family expresses their sincere appreciation for the tremendous outpouring of love, support, and wonderful words of comfort shared during this difficult time.
