In Loving Memory of Salvador "Sal" Torres Sr.
November 1, 1948 - June 25, 2025
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Salvador "Sal" Torres Sr., a beloved
husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and pillar of the Pinetop, Arizona community.
Sal passed away peacefully on June 25, 2025, surrounded by his loving family, leaving behind a
legacy grounded in love, hard work, and service to others.
Born on November 1, 1948, in Guanajuato, Mexico, Sal was the third of ten siblings. From a
young age, he embodied the values of determination, humility, and deep family
devotion-qualities that would define his life and impact everyone who had the privilege of
knowing him.
Sal moved to the US where he worked to build a strong foundation for his family through
multiple jobs. His ambition and perseverance paved the way for his family to have a better life.
When Sal was asked what his life motto would be, he said "me gusta luchar en la vida para
tener lo mio!"
Sal and his wife Teresa later made Pinetop their home, where they raised their three children
and built a life rooted in faith, family, and tradition. In 2009, they opened the doors to Sal &
Teresa's Mexican Restaurant, which quickly became more than just a place to eat - it
became a beloved cornerstone of the community.
Known for its warm, family atmosphere and famous green chili, Sal & Teresa's was a reflection
of Sal himself: welcoming, generous, and full of heart. The entire Torres family worked side by
side at the restaurant, and that sense of unity became something the town came to know and
love. Sal was always there to greet guests with a friendly smile and a kind word. He was known
not only for his delicious food, but for his genuine warmth and his tireless work ethic.
Sal's legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the traditions he passed down, and the town he
helped shape. His spirit remains alive in the restaurant that continues to be proudly family-run,
standing as a living tribute to the man who built it with love.
Sal is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Teresa; his three children, Martha, Salvador Jr.,
and Betty; eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; his extended family; and the
countless friends, neighbors, and patrons who became part of his story.
As he enters into heaven, Sal is joyfully reunited in heaven with his beloved grandsons,
Adrian and Sebastian, and his dear siblings Francisco Torres Castillo, Mario Torres
Castillo, Roberto Torres Castillo, and Rosa Torres Castillo. We find peace knowing they
are now together, embracing him with love.
