Robert Harold Winner, Jr. died September 27, 2021, at the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. He was 76 years old. Bob, as he was known, was born on September 25, 1945, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to his parents, the late Robert Harold and Beulah Alberta (Tiday) Winner.
Bob loved his country and spent his life serving in her defense. He retired from the United States Air Force as a Master Sergeant. Following his military career, he worked for General Dynamics in Dallas, Texas for several years. In 1991, he moved to Joseph City, Arizona and worked as a correctional officer in Winslow.
Bob was a friend to his community and loved to help anyone in need. He, along with his brother-in-law, Bary Petersen, irrigated many of their neighbors' and friends' properties. He also mowed countless lawns and hauled many a load to the dump. Throughout the year, he loved going to the Joseph City Cemetery, to clean up family members' and friends' grave spaces.
Bob is survived by his wife, Lesley Winner of Joseph City, Arizona; 5 children: Amber (Keith) Gardner of Snowflake, Arizona, Robert Scott Winner of Joseph City, Arizona, Steven Brett (Cathy) Winner of Joseph City, Arizona, Eric Winner of Joseph City, Arizona, Sara Winner of Tucson, Arizona; 7 grandchildren: Jaden (Kaelee) Gardner, Collin Gardner, Megan (Diego) Garcia, Cameron Gardner, Tyler Gardner, Dallin Gardner and Nicholas Winner.
The funeral service will begin 10:00 A.M., Saturday, October 16, 2021, at the Joseph City Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 8181 Westover Street in Joseph City, Arizona where the visitation will begin 1 hour prior. The concluding service, with military honors, will immediately follow at the Joseph City Cemetery.
