Nancy Tortice

August 18, 1942 — April 22, 2026

Nancy "Baha-Alchesay" Tortice, age 83, was born on August 18, 1942, and peacefully passed in the quiet hours, at her home, in Diamond Creek, Arizona on April 22, 2026. Nancy was a beloved daughter to Dora Ethelbah-Baha and Chief Baha-Alchesay.

Nancy dedicated her life to caring for others, especially children, who did not have parents of their own. Through her work in the group home, she gave comfort, stability, and love, to those who needed it most. Her life was one of compassion, service and quiet strength.

Nancy grew up and was raised at Chief Baha-Alchesay's lovely home and land, at North Fork, Arizona. She attended McNary High School, and she was a true, die-hard Green Devil.

Nancy faithfully attended Whiteriver Lutheran Church, that existed from her grandfather, Al Chief Alchesay, and later in life attended North Fork Miracle Church.

She is survived by her loving husband, Herbert Tortice, Jr; children: Duane Kessay, Johnny Kessay, Chris (ElMaria) Tortice, and Jaki Baha-Alchesay. She leaves behind many grandkids and great-grandkids, along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, who will miss her dearly.

Funeral Services were held at Whiteriver Assembly of God Church on Friday, May 1, 2026, at 1:00 pm, with a viewing from 10:00-12:00 am. Her final resting place is at the Chief Alchesay Family plot, in North Fork, Arizona.

Nancy's love, her care for others, and her dedication will never be forgotten. Her legacy lives on in every life she touched.
