Melanie Hall Rhodes

August 31, 1955 — November 4, 2022

Melanie Hall Rhodes passed away Saturday, November 4, 2022. She was born on August 31, 1955 to Jesse Grant Hall and Beuna Rose Fish  Becker. Her mother said she was a gorgeous baby with lots of black hair and beautiful bright eyes!  Melanie was an extremely intelligent and vivacious child which carried on into adulthood.

Melanie grew up in Lakeside and Mesa, Arizona.  The mountains were always home to her and she called them her “happy place”.  Her father passed away when she was a toddler and her  family moved to Mesa to live with her Grandma Fish.  Melanie adored her grandmother and had very happy memories living with her.

Her mother remarried Robert Julius Becker and she loved him as her father.  She loved all of her siblings, Beuna Rose Hall (deceased), Scarlett Hall Leslie (deceased), Terry Becker (Mare’), Floran Becker Ralls (Charlie), Louisa Becker LeSueur (Ben), and Robert Becker (Rhonda).  She  always shared great stories of her adventures growing up.

She graduated from Westwood High School in Mesa, Arizona.  She married Eric John Sporich  and was blessed with 6 beautiful children; Laura Sporich Bossa’(deceased), Karen Sporich Martin (Brent), Julie Sporich Bullock, Sarah Sporich Lindsay (Robert), Matthew Sporich, and April Sporich Owens.  She was proud of all of her children and loved each of them very much.  She was blessed with 15 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren who brought her much joy! She  was never shy about bragging about each one of them to anyone and everyone who would  listen.

She never met a stranger.  She had a way of making everyone feel like they were an old friend and part of the family.  Melanie was quick witted, smart and had a great love for music.  Music  was a big part of her life and it enriched her in many ways. She would often burst into song and sing to her grandchildren “You Are My Sunshine”.

She married Jack Rhodes in 2008 and they were very happy and enjoyed going to the temple together.  Melanie loved the gospel and her Savior.  She was always willing to serve and spread joy and good will.  She was known as “Mama Rhodes” to all the missionaries.  She would feed the missionaries and help them with sewing on a button or fixing their bicycles.

Melanie was a defender of anyone who was in need or suffering. She would go out of her way to help anyone in need. Her heart was big and generous.

We know her reunion in heaven is sweet and joyous with the many people she lost on this earth.  She will be greatly missed and we were all blessed by her life.
