Marlita Quay

August 15, 1955 — June 11, 2021

Marlita Quay died in the very early morning hours of Friday, June 11, 2021, at A.C. Assisted Living in Globe, Arizona.  She was 65 years old.  Marlinta was born on a Monday, August 15, 1955 to her parents, the late Harry and Florence (Pinal) Tonay. 

As a child, she attended the Old Mission School in Cibecue. She learned at a young age the crafts of beading and crocheting. Over the course of her lifetime, Marlita made hundrdeds of key chains and barrettes. She loved making them for other people and giving them away as gifts. They were beautiful and artful and people loved receiving them from her. When she wasn't too busy tending to the needs of her household and beading, she could ofttimes be found with a crochet hook in her hand making potholders and other things for around the house. She also enjoyed being outside and looked forward to taking walks to the store with her grandkids. She was a woman of great faith would believed in the power of prayer. In her younger years, as a newlywed, she belonged to the Cibecue Assembly of God. She later began to fellowship with the Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Cibecue. She encouraged her family and friends, even up to her last weeks of life, to pray often with real intent. She loved them all so much. 

Marlita is survived by her husband, Lanford, Quay of Cibecue, AZ; 4 children: Vernie (Roland) White of East Fork, AZ, Lindy Quay of Dilkon, AZ, Lanceford Quay of Pinetop, AZ, Melinda (Jarvis) Largo of Cibecue, AZ; her brother, Nathaniel Tonay of East Fork, AZ; 26 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Along with her parents, Marlita was preceded in death by her brother, Lane Tonay and by her sister, Vickie Childs.

The wake will begin 10:00 A.M., Thursday, June 17, 2021, at the Quay Family home, 505 W. Powerline Road in Cibecue, Arizona. The graveside service will begin 1:00 P.M., Friday, June 18, 2021, at the Sunny Side Cemetery in Cibecue.
