Marcia Dala Mauzy Grantham, 94, wife of Martin Grantham, passed away Thursday, March 25, 2026, at her home, Pinetop Senior Living, Lakeside, AZ. Born June 17, 1931, in Tulsa, OK, she was the daughter of Whitfield Yancey and Eunice (Lambert) Mauzy.
Marcia graduated from Central High School (Tulsa, OK) in 1949 and attended Oklahoma A&M (Now Oklahoma State University (OSU)). A woman ahead of her time, she graduated in 1953 with a Bachelor of Science degree in education, and became a teacher, like her mother before her.
She was a woman of many talents with a passion for art and Crewel needle work. She painted Pistol Pete (the OSU Mascot for her college) on the RV spare tire cover that told everyone where they were heading on game days. Her love for her college alma mater was second only to her love for her family and friends.
In college, she met the love of her life, Martin Grantham, and they married in 1952.They had four amazing children and spent much of their lives traveling together for Martin's work.
Marcia was a strong and loving mother and wife who never shied away from hard work. She loved adventure, whether it was snow skiing, water skiing, Scouting in the back woods, or RVing across the country. There wasn't much that Marcia wasn't willing to try. Her family has fond memories of her climbing back into a boat after water skiing without ever getting her hair wet, every time. Also playing card games in the motor home as they made their way to Washington DC with her or in their home's driveway.
She carried her family through many difficult experiences, traveling to other countries and moving between cities. She moved to California, Wyoming, and overseas to France for a short while with Dale, (her oldest son) while Martin was deployed in the Air Force. She moved to Chicago, New Orleans, New Jersey and back to Oklahoma for Martin's work. She fondly told stories of traveling with her ironing board, very pregnant, to Chicago on her own as they moved between homes. These pieces of her life are a true testament to her character, as her love for her family never wavered and her desire to give them a good life created a family that has stuck together throughout life and continues to grow and thrive.
Marcia's legacy of kindness highlights the blessing that she was for everyone around her. She believed that everyone had a place in the world and treated the people around her with dignity, respect, and kindness. She was welcoming to all and always made space in the family for new members. She loved the church, the Lord, and her family. Her memory is one of compassion, joy, and great humor, and she will be dearly missed as she spreads her joy throughout heaven alongside her husband, Martin.
She is survived by her son Dale Grantham and wife Rosemarie of Dallas, TX; daughter Kathryn Harrison and husband Don of Show Low, AZ; son Yancey Grantham and wife Susan of Peoria, AZ; and son Louis Grantham and wife Rebecca of Monument, CO. Grandchildren (who knew her as Grandma Marcia or Grandmother) include Melody Gardner and husband Michael; Stephen Grantham and wife Jenn; Matthew Harrison and wife Michelle; Jennifer Karavakis and husband Nick; Brantley Grantham; Colton Grantham and wife Dusti; and Aubrey Mercer and husband Justin; Jessica Douglas; Jacki Lopez; Kea Lopez and wife Isa. Greatgrandchildren (who knew her as GG) include Anna and Ellie Gardner; Millie Grantham; Daila, Ellanora, and Ruadhri Harrison; Lorelei, Victoria, and Eliana Karavakis; Callahan and Caroline Grantham; Emberlynn and Lila Mercer; Nate and Kainoa Shopteese; and Kam, Aurora, and Sage Lopez.
Preceded in death by her husband Martin, her parents Whitfield and Eunice Mauzy, brother Whitfield Mauzy Jr, and sister Eleanor Anderson.
