Leman "Lyn" Musgrove died Monday, October 25, 2021, at Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center in Show Low, Arizona from complications of Covid-19. He was 69 years old. Lyn was born on a Sunday, April 6, 1952, in Lindsay, Tulare County, California to his parents, the late Eldridge Fairchild and Marie Ethel (Jeffery) Musgrove.
In 1960, when he was 8, the family moved to Arizona. Lyn was a graduated member of Parker High School's Class of 1970. After high school, he took a few college courses. At the age of 19, Lyn was drafted into the United States Army and, though it was during the Vietnam War, he served in Italy as a power generation mechanic and was part of the Southern European Task Force (S.E.T.F.). Later, Lyn became part of the 1st Cavalry. He was proud to serve his country and was willing to make the ultimate sacrifice.
Upon his honorable release from the army nearly 2 years later, Lyn came back to Arizona and made a successful living in construction driving trucks. He worked a few decades for Show Low Construction and, early on in his career, he proved himself to be a dependable employee and loyal friend to his co-workers. He was a hard worker and always gave his all, no matter what. In fact, during the course of his employment, he broke his back, not just once but, twice. After breaking his back the second time, he thought maybe it was time to retire.
Lyn was a man who did not like to be idle. He loved being in the great-out-of-doors with both family and friends. He enjoyed hunting and RV-ing around the country. He was grateful for the peace he found in Arizona's playground, camping in any of the many forests throughout the White Mountains. Since 1970, Lyn was a member of the E.A.A. (Experimental Aircraft Association). He loved going to airshows, watching airplanes, helicopters and military craft. As a master mechanic, he was privileged, not only to work on and repair but, to also ride on the massive Chinook helicopters. For him, it was such a thrill!
Lyn is survived by his girlfriend (his "live-inmate", as he joked), Ella Mercer of Snowflake; 4 daughters: Valerie (Shawn) Green of Phoenix, Arizona, Vicky Ferrara of Phoenix, Arizona, Vania (Drake) Chambers of Snowflake, Arizona, Veronica Chambers of Snowflake, Arizona; siblings: Amos (Jackie) Musgrove of Visalia, California, Judy (Ted) Heath of Snowflake, Arizona, Lorna (Charles) Waldemar of Twin Falls, Idaho, Jeanne Stroh of Cibolo, Texas, Neta Musgrove of Safford, Arizona; brother-in-law, Leonard Cox, of Parker, Arizona; 6 grandkids: Logan Green, Madison Green, Griffin Ferrara, Harley Fails, Samantha (Randy) Whirlow, Tyler (Cassidy) Hankins; great-grandkids: Waylon Ferrara and Ahsoka Lyn Whirlow. Lyn is also survived by 2 lifelong best friends, Melvin and Mike Lee who are brothers. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother and his wife, Ervin and Julie Musgrove; sister, Faye Cox; his brother-in-law, Robert Stroh; and he is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.
