JW "Dubbie" Dickerson

April 1, 1939 — July 8, 2021

JW "Dubbie" Dickerson died Thursday, July 8, 2021, at Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center in Show Low, Arizona following a sudden illness. He was 82 years old.  JW was born on a Saturday, April 1, 1939, in LaPalma, Pinal County, Arizona, to his parents, the late Mack and Maria Monica (Lopez) Dickerson.

Living the lives of cotton farmers, his parents taught JW the value and importance of making a living through hard and honest work. He graduated from Coolidge High School in the late '50s.  He farmed cotton in Arizona Farms for many years and also worked more than 30 years for Southwest Gas as a welder. JW was a member of Pinal County Sheriff's Posse. He married his wife, Joy Ann Brash on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 1999, in Valley Farms, Arizona.

He was a man who always put his family first. Teaching their children and grandchildren to always choose the right, with other values that will serve them throughout their own lives, was important to him. An avid fisherman, JW enjoyed quiet days at the lake catching his daily limit. His favorite fishing hole was Rainbow Lake in Lakeside. Also, whenever he was drawn, he enjoyed a good hunt for big game deer and elk.

JW is survived by: his wife, Joy Dickerson of Valley Farms, AZ; sons: Robert (Bobbie) Dickerson of Henderson, NV, Clint (Denise) Dickerson of Coolidge, AZ; daughter, Kim Conyer of Casa Grande, AZ; 5 grandchildren: Jennifer (Kevin) Korb, Jacob (Ashley) Dickerson, Amy Dickerson, Kelsey Conyer, Cody (Lindsey) Barrow; 6 great-grandchildren: Monica Korb, Anthony Korb, Maggie Dickerson, Anna Dickerson, JW Tripp Dickerson, Forest Barrow; 1 great-great-grand, Luke Miller; and his brother, Vernon (Shirley) Dickerson of Tucson, AZ. Along with his parents, JW was preceded in death by 3 of his siblings: Katie Butler, Mack Dickerson, Jr., and Etta Mae Freeland.

His family will privately honor him this Thanksgiving with a special service celebrating his incredible life.
