Joseph Asiano Acosta peacefully passed away on June 19, 2025 in Snowflake, Arizona. He was 80. Joseph was born on March 28, 1945 in Holbrook, Arizona to his parents, Clement and Martha Acosta.
Joe lived in Holbrook and worked at the Powwow Trading Post, which he loved very much. He married Lucy Sample Acosta and had two lovely kids, Mark and Desiree. They then moved to Bagdad, Arizona, where he worked in the Copper Mines for many years. He moved to his wife’s hometown of St. Johns, Arizona, where he worked for the St. John’s Unified School District and eventually retired from Apache County.
Joe always had a smile on his face and conversation for anyone. If you ever had a conversation with Joe I’m sure he asked where his shooters are. Joe will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

Joe is survived by his children, Mark Acosta (Kathy), Desiree Acosta and David Warner; grandchildren, Jessica Acosta, Adrian Asiano Acosta (Sierra), Alyssa Acosta, Savannah-dee Acosta, Azreal Warner, Keara Warner, Ryanna Warner and Davion Warner; great-grandchildren, Gabriella Asiana, Emanuel Asiano, Avyanna, Izabella, Emmabella, Carrie and Sincere; siblings, Benny, Henry, and Veronica.
He was preceded in death by, his wife, Lucy Sample Acosta; parents, Clement and Martha Acosta and siblings, Carol and Marion.
A viewing will be held 10:30 A.M. Saturday, June 28, 2025 at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 212 E. Arizona Street, Holbrook with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary to be held at 11:30 A.M. followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 P.M. Interment will follow in the Holbrook Cemetery.
