Obituary

Joanne Moya, 84, of Pinetop, Arizona, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2026, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's dementia.

Joanne was born on June 6, 1942, in Bend, Oregon. She was raised in Maverick, where many of the happiest moments of her childhood and early life were spent. She was the beloved daughter of Lyle and Roseanne Smith and shared a close bond with hersiblingss. Dean Smieth, Clarie Smith (deceased), and Imogene Raines (deceased).

Joanne was a devoted mother to four children: Ginger Somers and her husband, Shane Lohr; Darrell Moya, who tragically passes away at the age of 16; Cynthia Joanne Moya; and Brent Moya and his wife, Cindy Martin. She was a cherished grandmother to seven grandchildren; Crystal Newman, Darrell Newman, Theresa Abigal, Marianna, Xavier Moya, Kaelyn Martin, and Scott Martin. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Lyle Brown, Case Reidhead, and Riley.

A lifelong entrepreneur, Joanne pursued many successful ventures throughout her life. She worked as a hairdresser, caterer, realtor in Pinetop, wallpaper installer, and in countless other endeavors that reflected her creativity, determination, and adventurous spirit. She loved fishing, spending time in the woods, cooking, making crafts, traveling the world, and above all, being a loyal and caring friend to so many. Her warmth, generosity, and vibrant spirit touched countless lives and will be deeply missed.

Joanne was receded in death by her son, Darrell Moya, and her sister Imogene Raines and her brother Claire Smith. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, brother, and a wide circle of cherished friends.

A memorial service will be heald at In Bloom Nursery at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, July 11, 2026.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donation be made to Accord Hospice.

Joanne's legacy of love, adventure, kindness and friendship will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
