Jewel Gertrude Harrison Turley passed away April 14, 2026 and was born Feb 26, 1934 to Cecil and Lona Harrison in Arkansas.
As a young girl the family moved a lot as they followed her father's work mostly in the logging industry. They moved to the Snowflake area and she attended School in Shumway, Taylor and graduated from Snowflake High. She considered her life boring but as we talked to her, we found out she had many more adventures than she realized.
In 1958 she married Theodore Seth Turley. When they married, they immediately formed a family because Jewel had two sons, William Reed (Bill) and Dale Eugene, from a previous marriage. Their family continued to grow with the addition of Tamra Jean, Anthony Isaac, and Theodore Steven. The family lived in Holbrook and Taylor for a short while before settling in Snowflake and all of the kids graduated from Snowflake High. Ted and Jewel enjoyed square dancing, bowling, and most of all family activities.
Jewel accepted everyone she got to know as part of her family. Throughout her life she helped many by being there when they needed someone. She served in the temple for many years with Ted and continued for many years after his passing. One of the things she enjoyed most in her later years was getting together with her gang of seniors, playing cards, walking, exercising, and other things together. They played games a couple of times a week, at different houses according to each house's rules. Jewel was very devoted to her family, extended family, and to serving in the church. Her life was an example of how to serve and support others.
She is survived by Bill and Alea Turley, Pam Lusk Turley, Tammy and James Nuttall, Tony and Deena Turley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted Turley; sons, Dale and Steve Turley and daughter-in-law Cricket Towell Turley. She also leaves behind 31 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, and 20 great-great grandchildren. There are another significant number of children and grandchildren of her siblings she would include in the list as well, since she accepted them as her own.
She will be sorely missed by any and everyone that knew her. Her heart expanded to take in all those she knew. She served and lived with love and passion for the work of the Lord. She will continue to live in the lives of those she touched, by the examples they will continue to be.
Per Jewel's request a graveside service will be held Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 1:00 pm at the Snowflake Cemetery.
