James Greymountain, a quiet and steadfast presence in the lives of all who knew him, passed away on his 61st birthday, April 4, 2025, in Indian Wells, Arizona. Born in Winslow, Arizona, James lived a life rooted in the land and the values of hard work, family, and quiet kindness.

A private man by nature, James found his greatest peace with a fishing rod in hand, casting into any lake or river he could find. It wasn't about the place - it was about the simple joy of the water and the patience it taught.

James was a dedicated rancher, a lover of animals, and a proud father whose strength and steady heart shaped his family and community. He devoted over 30 years of service to the National Park Service at Petrified Forest National Park, where his work left an enduring mark on both the land and his colleagues.

Those who knew James will forever picture him beneath his signature mustaches, which were as much a part of him as his quiet wisdom and dry sense of humor. He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Kee Greymountain, Sr., and Eleanor Spencer Greymountain.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at 9:00 A.M. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Chapel in Holbrook, Arizona.

James Greymountain will be remembered as a man of few words, but deep devotion - to his family, his work, and the wild places he loved.
