Jackie was born on September 2, 1932, at Saint Joseph's Hospital, then on the outskirts of downtown Phoenix at 4th Street & Polk. She and her sister Bobby grew up in the home her parents, Jo & Herb Ensign built in 1929 on acreage on Lafayette in present day Arcadia. She graduated from Madison #1, North High School, and Phoenix College.
Jackie was passionate about Arizona, especially the White Mountains of Arizona. Her parents and grandparents introduced her to "the mountains" before her first birthday. This summer would have marked her 93rd spent in the White Mountains.
For more than 30 years, Jackie was married to the love of her life Walt. They divided their time between the Valley and Alpine. She leaves behind her sister Bobby Brown of Rockport, Maine and 2 sons: Fritz Teetsel of Phoenix, Grandsons Matthew & Daniel and Chuck Teetsel of Pinetop, his wife Sharon, Grandson Chip (Danielle) of Phoenix, Granddaughters Kelly (Joshua) Parkinson and Kendra (Matthew) Parkinson of Dallas and Great Grandchildren Scotti, Charli, Ellie & Jack.
With her family and multitude of friends, Jackie explored and enjoyed virtually every nook and cranny of Arizona. Throughout the State she collected Southwestern and Native American art & jewelry aka, "her treasures". When not gallivanting around the state, she and Walt traveled the country and abroad. The two of them were truly made for each other but also made lifelong friends everywhere they went.
After Walt passed in 2002, she made Pinetop her full-time home for the past 23 years. Her days were happily spent with family and her many "friends for life" playing cards, enjoying drives through the mountains and continued travels. Wine was always a staple and with eternal love, we toast Jackie's well lived life.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Jackie's friends and family in Pinetop at 4:00 on Saturday, June 21. To receive details, please send an email to: jackieinthepines@gmail.com
