Hilda Ann Lochansky-Smith

Hilda Ann Lochansky-Smith passed away on November 5th, 2023 at the age of 77. Hilda was born on June 29th, 1946 in the Bronx, New York to Harold and Frances Lochansky.  

Hilda attended Saddle Brook High School and went on to further her education at William Paterson University. Hilda was an educator, and she furthered her career and the education of her students through obtaining advanced degrees and certificates in multi-cultural education and learning disabilities at Northern Arizona University and Arizona State University, respectively. 

Hilda worked as a teacher in many school districts throughout the state of Arizona from 1977 until her retirement in 2000. She had a passion for antiques, travel, culture, community, and charity work. She is well known amongst her friends as someone who is active in as many organizations and causes as she could, busying herself with helping others. 

She is survived by her brother, Gerald Lochansky, her grandchildren: Kaylee Ward, McKenzie Smith, Rowdy Smith, Nevada Smith III, Gracie Lynn Smith, and other family members and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Harold and Frances Lochansky. 

It was Hilda’s wish not to have a funeral. A Celebration of Life will be held for friends and family with the date and time to be determined. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Salvation Army in memory of Hilda Ann Lochansky- Smith.
