Obituary

Hazel Pearl Bryant Brimhall February 7, 1932 - June 23, 2026

Hazel Pearl Bryant Brimhall, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, friend, aunt, and faithful disciple of Jesus Christ, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Snowflake, Arizona, on June 23, 2026, at the age of 94.

Hazel was born on February 7, 1932, in Snowflake, Arizona, to Roy and Ada Bryant along with her beloved siblings Louis, Jim, Ruby, and George. She was raised in the community she loved and would spend nearly her entire life serving and blessing the people around her there. Snowflake was not simply where Hazel lived; it was home, woven into the fabric of her heart and the story of her life.

She married the love of her life, Darrell Lake Brimhall, on April 15, 1953, where they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Mesa, Arizona, Temple. A date that always coincided with Tax Day, making it a bittersweet day on the calendar. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, hard work, and service. Their home was filled with love, laughter, and the joyful chaos that comes from raising eleven children. Hazel's greatest treasure was her family.

Through her posterity, her influence continues to grow and bless future generations. She leaves behind a remarkable legacy of 11 children, 53 grandchildren, 94 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Her family was her pride and joy, and she never missed an opportunity to celebrate their accomplishments, encourage their efforts, or remind them how much they were loved.

To know Hazel was to know her kitchen. She loved canning, and everyone loved her dried apples, jam, and fudge. She was famous for her homemade bread, and it was rare for anyone to visit her home without leaving with a warm loaf tucked under their arm. Her bread nourished countless bodies, but even more than that, her generosity nourished hearts. She found joy in caring for others, and few people left her home without feeling welcomed, fed, and loved. Hazel was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully throughout her life in many callings. Her testimony of the Savior was steady and enduring. She quietly ministered to those in need, taught by example, and demonstrated a life of discipleship through her kindness, service, and unwavering faith. She found great purpose in building the kingdom of God and strengthening those around her.

Adventure was another hallmark of Hazel's life. She loved traveling and eagerly embraced opportunities to see new places and create memories with family and friends. Whether the destination was near or far, she enjoyed the journey and the people she shared it with. Hazel had a deep love for her country and was a beautifully active presence in her local community. She was exceptionally proud of her family's military heritage, always standing as a pillar of strength and gratitude for the loved ones who served. She believed in doing her part and serving her neighbors, and she took pride in contributing to the community she loved. One of Hazel's favorite places to be was in the stands at a ballgame, track meet, rodeo, concert, or any event where one of her children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren was participating. She was among their biggest supporters, cheering loudly and celebrating every success. Her loyalty to her family was fierce and unwavering. If you were one of Hazel's grandchildren, you always knew you had someone in your corner.

She also possessed a deep love for family history. Hazel spent countless hours researching ancestors, preserving stories, and connecting generations. She understood that families are linked across time, and she devoted much of her life to ensuring those connections would not be forgotten. Through her efforts, many family stories and histories were preserved for generations yet to come. Hazel will be remembered for her warm smile, her steady faith, her endless generosity, and the way she made every person feel valued. She taught by example that a meaningful life is built through service, devotion, hard work, and love. Her influence will continue to be felt in the lives of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Though her family mourns her passing, they find comfort in the knowledge that her life was one of purpose, faith, and extraordinary love. Her legacy lives on in the generations she nurtured, the faith she shared, the bread she baked, the stories she preserved, and the countless acts of kindness she performed throughout her life. She was deeply loved, and she will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Julie, son Brett, daughter-in-law Kathy, and her eternal companion Darrell. Her family rejoices in the promise that families can be together forever and looks forward to a joyful reunion with them once again.
