Harry Lynn Hall

May 20, 1940 — December 27, 2020

Harry Lynn Hall, 80, of Mesa, Arizona, passed away at his home on Sunday, December 27, 2020. He was born on May 29, 1940 in Snowflake, AZ to Harrison and Esther Hall as their first-born child who would become the protective, dutiful big brother to five siblings (three brothers and two sisters). Harry grew up in Show Low, Arizona, within his beloved White Mountains where he resided for most of his adult life until moving to Mesa, Arizona in 1997.

Harry was always a family man. Growing up, he loved his parents, siblings, and extended family of grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. The titles he cherished most are: husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He realized early-on that his greatest blessing was his dear sweetheart, Geraldine, who was his loyal partner in all things for over 57 years. Together they forged a lasting legacy for their eight children. Harry was the unconditional #1 fan to all his posterity whether in the stands with his binoculars at sporting events, quietly enjoying a music or dance recital, or cheerfully clapping at an educational commencement. For Harry, life was about the next big family event.

Harry was a devout Christian and lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As a young man, he served a voluntary mission in the Northwestern States Mission. He devoted his entire life to dedicated service as a Bishop and Stake President in Show Low and countless other voluntary church positions until the very end. He loved teaching and being taught and was well-known for his moving sermons that sometimes were in a calm, encouraging tone, while other times a fiery call to repentance. Harry found joy in serving others and lived his belief that "Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world." James 1:27.

His early professional life included managing a pizza parlor and serving as an apprentice butcher to his father-in-law. He later evolved into a world-class salesman of nearly anything--real estate, insurance, multi-level marketing products-but eventually garnered the title as the "best used-car salesman" on the mountain! Harry spent his twilight professional years working for his church overseeing the physical maintenance of several chapels in the Phoenix-metro area. Harry was also a respected leader who volunteered countless hours serving as president of the Show Low School District Board of Education and the local Rotary Club. He even ventured further into politics, making a run for Justice of the Peace in Show Low before ultimately relocating to Mesa.

Harry was an avid hunter, sportsman, and outdoorsman. He was most happy waking up at 4 am on a bitterly cold late fall or early spring morning, with some of his children or grandchildren alongside, to track down a buck or call-in a flock of wild turkeys. He had a love and respect for guns-so much so that he built an addition to his home in Show Low so he could reload his own ammunition. Harry also loved hunting and camping trips with his "buds" that consisted of legendary Dutch Oven meals, spiritual devotionals on Sundays, and campfire chats lasting into the early hours.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Harrison and Esther; brothers, Michael, Christopher, and Brett; and grandchild, Megan.

Harry is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Geraldine of Mesa, AZ; children, Kevin (Deborah) and Michael (Nicole) of Show Low, AZ, Shealyn (Nathan) of Ashton, ID, Sean (Alta) of Dragoon, AZ, Shane (Matthew) of Boulder, CO, Jeremy (Karlee) of Gilbert, AZ, Harrison of Show Low, AZ and Cami (Randall) of Gilbert, AZ; 37 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Judy and Michelle; a cherished group of in-laws; a flock of nieces and nephews; and a loyal gang of friends.

A family memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Show Low Stake Center, 1401 W. Deuce of Clubs, Show Low, AZ.
