Guy Lester Earl Heder, beloved husband, father, grandfather, educator, and friend, passed away on June 29, 2025, at the age of 63. He leaves behind a legacy of love, music, and unwavering dedication to his family, students, and community.
Guy was born on June 2, 1962, in Snowflake, Arizona, to Lloyd Earl Heder and Helen Ann Sabin Heder. He was one of four siblings raised in a home filled with strong values, faith, and a deep appreciation for learning.
He attended Benson High School in Benson, Arizona, then continued his education at Eastern Arizona College and the University of Arizona, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Music Education. His love for music and passion for teaching led to a 34-year career as the band and choir teacher for the Heber-Overgaard School District, where he retired in 2024.
Guy's classroom was more than just a place to learn music-it was a welcoming, safe space filled with laughter, encouragement, and inspiration. He worked tirelessly to help students discover the joy and power of music, making a lasting impact on generations.
Outside of teaching, Guy was an avid coin collector and history enthusiast. He shared a love for family history. Along, with his mother he enjoyed collecting stories and pictures of past generations. His musical tastes were broad, ranging from 1970s rock and roll to grand symphony orchestras-reflecting his deep appreciation for all forms of musical expression.
He is survived by his loving wife, Karen Heder, and their children: Lloyd Heder, Cara Phillips (James), Angela Gretsch (Ed), Lisa Heder, Bryan Heder (Lydia), Cori Heder, and Benjamin Heder. He was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Cori Dawn Heder; his parents, Lloyd E. Heder and Helen Ann Heder; his brother, Edmund Heder; and his granddaughter, Kaylani Gretsch.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Heber LDS Chapel, 1858 Highway 260, Heber, Arizona. A viewing will take place at 1:00 p.m., prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Heber Cemetery.
Guy will be remembered for his gentle heart, boundless generosity, and the music and joy he brought into the lives of so many. He will be dearly missed.
