Evelynn “Evie” Nienhuis Krueger Talone

March 8, 1942-May 1, 2021

Our beloved Evie (Nienhuis) Krueger Talone passed away peacefully on May 1, 2021. She had a long battle with Diabetes related illness and COPD. This beautiful soul touched the lives of so many in her 79 years. Although our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing she’s at peace now.

Evie was born in Inglewood, California on March 8, 1942 to Bernard and Betsy Nienhuis. The family later moved to Bellflower, California. Evie grew up in the Christian Reformed Church of Bellflower and attended Valley Christian Schools followed by one year at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan before returning to Bellflower, where she lived until she met and married Robert Krueger. She and Robert lived in Downey, California, Iowa City, Iowa, Mount Pleasant, Iowa, Hidden Valley, California, and then settled in Auburn, California where they raised their two children. They divorced in 1986.

Evie enjoyed painting, crafting, sewing, water skiing, bowling, playing the piano and accordion, singing, and raising her children. She loved cooking and baking and created many magnificent meals at holidays for her extended family and friends. She loved traveling and camping, especially in Yosemite and elsewhere in Northern California. As a youth she spent many happy vacations camping and fishing all over the west as well as frequent water ski trips to Lake Mohave on the Colorado River.

Evie worked outside of the home for much of her life including many years with The Recold Corporation, Sears and Roebuck, Team Results, and Northern Video, a security products distributor. In 2008 Evie retired and moved to Show Low, Arizona to be closer to her daughter and her family.  Shortly after moving to Arizona she met Michael Talone, who had been a long-time customer of Northern Video.  Michael and Evie married in 2010 and remained in Show Low, Arizona until her passing. Evie attended Show Low First Baptist Church until her illnesses made it difficult for her to leave her home.

Evie leaves behind her husband, Mike Talone; Daughter, Debbie (John) Roznovak; Son, Robert Scott (Alyssa Isenstein) Krueger; as well as four grandchildren, Rebekah and Johnny Roznovak, and Kalman and Saul Krueger. She is also survived by her brothers, Burt (Sue) Nienhuis, and Bill (Mari) Nienhuis, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Evie was preceded in death by her parents Bernard and Betsy Nienhuis.

Evie will be remembered for her ready smile, warmth, kindness, and compassion.
