Esther (Ethelbah) Chataway, known by many as Esther E. Wycliffe, 74, entered fully into the presence of the Lord on Thursday, May 11, 2023 in Mesa, Arizona. She was born on April 1, 1949 in Whiteriver, Arizona to Thomas and Cecelia (Ivins) Ethelbah.
Esther held many jobs, however she was a carpenter/construction worker. An occupation she loved and excelled at. She was also a born again believer in Jesus Christ and loved the Lord with all her heart. She read and studied her Bible daily and was a praying woman. She attended the North Fork Miracle Church, and the Whiteriver & Canyon Day Assemblies of God.
She had special friends and many relatives, usually sharing their lineage in a family tree of her relatives. She also attended many celebrations, parties, and family gatherings. She assisted at and attended many of the local wakes and funerals, remembering how so many were there for her, when she experienced her own loss. Esther tried to stay active, and walked a lot. She loved spending time with family and friends and called them regularly. She always shared her faith and trust in the Lord, and prayed for many.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and daughter (Thomas and Cecelia (Ivins) Ethelbah, Marvin and Nelson Ethelbah, Anamencia (Ethelbah) Tortice, Jolene (Ethelbah) Cheney, Abeita (Ethelbah) Cromwell, Hope Faith Wycliffe)
Esther is survived by her seven children (Linton (Shawna) Ethelbah, Lois Ann (Crocker) Hill, April (Crocker) Bull Calf, R June Crocker (Kenneth) Patten, Toni (Wycliffe) (Kyren) Hastings, Tom James Wycliffe, Billy Joe Wycliffe) 30 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
There will be a two hour viewing at the North Fork Miracle Church, 4014 N. Potter Street, Whiteriver, Arizona, beginning at 8 am and funeral at 10 am also at the North Fork Miracle Church, in Whiteriver, Arizona on Thursday, May 18, 2023.
She will be laid to rest at the Whiteriver Cemetery near her mother and daughter.
