Dr. Trent Adams

November 12, 1953 — July 22, 2025

Dr. C. Trent Adams, sat down one last time and slipped away from his earthly life peacefully and suddenly in his home on the morning of July 22nd. Trent was sound of mind and strong in both body and spirit at the time of his passing. Trent's sudden departure occurred after a week-long family reunion surrounded by his children and grandchildren where he enjoyed working, teaching, and (most important to Trent) spending time making memories with his family.

Trent was born on November 12th, 1953 in McNary, Arizona to Chester Frank Adams and Clea Pearce Adams. Growing up in Show Low, Trent learned ranching and farming, skills he would use and share for the rest of his life. As a young man Trent was an all star baseball player, accomplished wrestler, 4H Champion, musician, avid outdoorsman, and well regarded friend. Trent graduated from Snowflake High School in 1971 and went on to serve in the Tokyo/Nagoya, Japan Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints from 1973 - 1975.

In August of 1975, Trent married and was sealed to his grade school sweetheart, Mary "Caroline" Pew, for time and all eternity in the Mesa Arizona Temple. Trent worked as a stone mason while attending Brigham Young University where he obtained a Bachelors of Science in Zoology. He was accepted into Emory University's Dental program in Atlanta, Georgia, where he completed his Doctorate of Dental Surgery in the Spring of 1983. He returned to his roots, becoming one of the first homegrown sons of Show Low to practice dentistry in the White Mountains. Upon graduating dental school, Dr.Trent Adams drove across the United States to Show Low, AZ with his wife and now four children to: build an office himself, start his own practice, work on the ranch, raise his family, and diligently and faithfully serve the Lord. In the fall of 1983, the doors of C. Trent Adams, D.D.S. opened for the first time, and they would remain open under his name for the next 40 years. Over the course of his career, Dr. Adams cared for, treated, and educated his patients with dedication and compassion.

From 1983 - 2025 Trent went by many names, had many titles, and filled many roles on and around the White Mountains: Dad, Brother, Uncle, Doctor, Grandpa, Bishop, Stake President, Branch President, Secretary, Mountain Man, Silver Beaver, Explorer, Advisor, Board Member, Donor, Leader, Teacher, Educator, Scout Master, Youth Leader, Temple worker. In any role Trent was asked to fill, he did so competently and earnestly with intent to improve and advance whatever task he found himself engaged in. He added three more children to his happy family and was tested with the loss of his youngest daughter in 1995.

He was a member of the Show Low Main Street Board and was influential in the creation of Show Low's Downtown Square and other aesthetic improvements to the Deuce of Clubs. In 2010, Trent was voted to take his father's place as secretary of the Show Low, Pinetop, Woodland Irrigation Company, he served expertly in this capacity for the next 15 years managing, allocating, and helping to secure a most precious natural resource. Trent the explorer and mountain man loved to hike and enjoy the beauty of the natural world. He shared this love with the youth in the community by giving his time as a sponsor and advisor to the fishing and hiking clubs at Show Low High School. Fishing was a passion and an art for Trent, it brought him joy and his favorite was to go fishing with his brother and his boys. Trent was an expert fisherman, he fished the oceans, lakes, rivers, and ponds. As a scout master Trent was instrumental in the success of dozens of scouts reaching the rank of Eagle Scout, his dedication to scouting would later see him recognized with the prestigious Silver Beaver award for leadership in scouting.

Being a son of God, Trent labored in the work of the Lord tirelessly and willingly. He served as Bishop of Show Low First Ward, and was President of the Pinetop/Lakeside Stake, after which he was called to be the stake young men's president. Brother and Sister Adams served happily as temple workers in the Snowflake Arizona Temple for seven years; Brother Adams would later be called as the President of the Fort Apache Branch on the White Mountain Apache Reservation, a calling he cherished and enjoyed for nearly six years with his eternal companion. Upon his death a family member noted:

"It is difficult, if not impossible to measure the good one man can have. But surely, the measure and value of a man is the influence he has on others... Trent Adams, is and was a giant of a man. His footprint on this mountain is vast. He is a true son of Show Low who not only was raised and lived in this community of ours, but he was a builder within it. He had the unique talent of having a vision of what his part of the world could and should be, then was able to make that vision happen, usually with his work gloves on. He worked hard, he played hard, and he always did it with someone he cared about in tow. And that's how he built his most valuable creation - other men and boys, his family and friends, his loyal dental patients, and fellow disciples of Jesus Christ. His generosity and concern for others is almost unmatched."

Trent is survived by: his wife, Caroline; his 6 Children: Amber (Josh Beeler), Brittaney (Jeremy Schnepf), Kara (Joshua Boone), Chet (Shelly Gibson), Brenda (D.J. Garcia), Tyson (Necia Moffat); 9 grandsons, 13 granddaughters; 2 sisters: Charlotte Broadbent, Beverly Welch; and his brother, Farrell Adams. He is preceded in death by: his daughter, Kyra Adams and his parents, Chester and Clea Adams.
