Charles Dee Lewis left this mortal existence on September 8, 2025, at his home in Show Low, Arizona. He was the eldest child of Elbert J and Geraldine Ozment Lewis, born April 12, 1952, in McNary, Arizona.
He grew up in a happy, loving home in Show Low, playing in Show Low Creek, riding his bike in fields of dirt, building forts and burying green leaves that Mike Chlarson said would turn into money in years to come. He had wonderful childhood friends that he has kept through his lifetime. He worked alongside his dad, Eb Lewis, at Cash and Carry Furniture and Antiques where he had many great and wonderful life experiences and blessings.
He played football, wrestled, pole vaulted in high school and rode bulls at the local rodeos. He was Student Body President his senior year of high school and Captain of the football team at Snowflake Union High School where he graduated in 1970. He spent a year at Brigham Young University, then was called to serve in the Tokyo Japan Mission.
Charlie married Carol Matkin in the Mesa Arizona Temple on September 7, 1973. Show Low was their home for several years then they moved to Southern California, where he worked in manufacturing with a Japanese company. After 11 years in California, they moved to Mesa, Arizona then back home to Show Low where he worked as Storeroom manager at the Snowflake Paper Mill. After he retired, he traveled, cruised the Bahamas, went fishing, played with Grandkids and enjoyed his favorite title as "Papa"!
"Live a good life, and in the end it's not the years in a life, it's the life in the years." Abraham Lincoln
He was loved by many, made friends wherever he went, always helped those in need, going above and beyond, he'd give everything he had if he knew someone needed it. He always had a smile on his face and made you feel loved. He had chocolate and the refrigerator was full of sodas for those who came by to visit.
Charlie is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carol; children, Cassidee Ruth of Woodstock, GA, Charles Trever (Annie) of Mesa, AZ, Beau (Joni) of Gilbert, AZ, and Tyson Chad of Show Low, AZ; Grandchildren: Brodee, Porter Eb, Briston, Tate, Liam, Brooks, Mia, Kendyl, and Bridger Beau; Three brothers; Eben J, Ted, and Manny, and his sweet sister Kimberly Seaman.
He is preceded in death by his Father and Mother, Elbert J and Geraldine Ozment Lewis, and Grandson Brek Lewis Green.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Compassus Hospice for the excellent and compassionate care provided for Charlie.
A memorial/graveside will be announced at a later date.
