Beth Marie
Peterson
Feb 19, 1939 — Aug 6, 2026
Beth Marie Bunnell Peterson, age 87, of Snowflake, AZ passed away August 6, 2026 in Orem,
Utah of natural causes. Beth was born February 19,1939 in Spring City, Utah. Beth was the
youngest of three siblings, and the only girl. She spent her first few years in Spring City, but her
family moved to Brigham City, Utah when she was a young girl. Beth had a happy childhood and
always talked about the wonderful friends she had growing up.
Beth attended Brigham Young University where she met the man of her dreams, Woodie
Peterson, in an Achieving Success in Marriage class. They quickly became inseparable and
were married in the Logan, Utah temple on September 21,1959. They moved to Arizona three
years later, and Snowflake became Beth's adopted home. She loved living in Snowflake and
built a beautiful life and family there.
Beth is the mother to nine children, and she enthusiastically welcomed each of her children's
spouses into the family and loved them like they were her own. Her family was everything to
Beth. She loved being a wife, mother, and homemaker and was excellent at all three. Beth was
a talented seamstress and was often up late at night finishing sewing projects. She made many
Homecoming and Prom dresses, all of her daughters' wedding dresses, and a countless
number of quilts that were given to family and friends. She canned all sorts of fruits and
vegetables that grew in her garden. Beth was an amazing cook and could make a gourmet meal
seemingly out of nothing. Her cherry, apple, and squash pies are unequaled, and her
homemade white bread with her frozen strawberry jam is LEGENDARY! She could not make it
fast enough to keep up with the demand when her grandchildren visited, although she loved
them enough to always try.
Beth had endless patience with her children (and grandchildren) and rarely, if ever, raised her
voice at them. She was always supportive of them and loved attending all of their music and
sports activities. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to read funny stories and jokes
that were sent around in email chains. She would just laugh and laugh. Beth has always been
adventurous and loved trying new things. She loved to travel and found ways to entice Woodie
into coming along with her on travel adventures, cruises, and family visits.
Beth was a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served
faithfully in many callings in the church, including: Young Women president, Primary teacher,
Primary pianist, stake Relief Society president, and various other callings. She was always
looking for ways to help and serve others and was always happy and willing to help with sewing
projects, give people rides, make delicious meals for people, and help anywhere she noticed a
need. Beth was super friendly and loved to talk and visit and brag about her family to anyone
who was willing to engage, whether she knew them or not. She was the best wife, mother,
grandmother, and friend and she will be greatly missed by those who know her. Dementia took
hold of her mind the last several years of her life, robbing her of her independence and
memories, but it could never rob her of her goodness or the legacy of love, kindness, hard work,
and service to others that she passed onto those of us lucky enough to know and be loved by
her.
Beth is survived by her children, Loni Parker, Dallas (Brendee) Peterson, Jay Sevison, Amy
(Dave) Braithwaite, Russel (Nicole) Peterson, Laurie (Todd) Furstenau, JoLynn (Dean) Wood,
Mack (Monica) Peterson, Andrea (Rand) Holyoak; sister-in-law, Natalie Bunnell; 57
grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren (plus 4 on the way).
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Elwood "Woodie" Peterson; her
parents, Stephen and Helen Bunnell; her daughter, Shannon Sevison; her son-in-law, David
Parker; her siblings, Stephen (DeeAnn) Bunnell, Wallace Bunnell.
