Bary Kent Petersen

November 6, 1958 — August 24, 2021

Bary Kent Petersen died Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center in Show Low, Arizona. He was 62 years old. Bary was born on Thursday, November 6, 1958, in Holbrook, Arizona to his parents, the late Loral Cliffe and Charlotte (Brewer) Petersen.

Bary was a graduated member of Holbrook High School's Class of '77. A few short years later, Bary married his forever sweetheart, Sharon Kay Turley on June 19, 1981, in the Mesa Arizona Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They most recently celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary together. In the early years of their marriage, the couple moved from Joe City to Provo, Utah, back to Joe City for a few years and then, on to the Valley, calling it home for nearly 20 years. While there, Bary worked for Kraft General Foods as a supervisor for all of their shop equipment. He later went into business for himself, and continued to serve all of Kraft General Foods' vehicle fleet. After living in the Valley for nearly 2 decades, Bary and Sharon moved back to his native roots in Joseph City and began working for ADOT as a supervisor for its equipment supervisors. In 2019, Bary had to take an early retirement due to medical issues.

Bary was a family man and loved to spend as much of his free time with them as he could. Throughout his life, he always put them as priority number #1. He loved outdoor activities and he loved taking his family with him. Camping and hunting were activities he loved to teach his kids. They always enjoyed camping as a tight knit family. Gardening was a passion for him and he spent countless hours in his garden growing the most amazing things. When his grandkids came along, they increased his joy tenfold. They were more than just grandchildren, they were his 'little buddies' and he loved taking all of them on many, many tractor rides. He loved family vacations and cruises with his bunch and now, they each have a lifetime of memories to remember him by and are so grateful that they were able to share his life with him. They love him and will miss him very much.

Bary is survived by: his wife, Sharon Petersen of Joseph City, AZ; 4 sons: Andrew Joseph (Kellie) Petersen of Mesa, AZ, Mathew Charles (Erin) Petersen of Las Cruces, NM, Jeremy Michael (Venessa) Petersen of Artesia, NM, Casey Alexander (Micayle "Myke") of Tijeras, NM; 7 siblings: Arthur (Deborah) Petersen of Joseph City, AZ, Dennis (Diana) Petersen of Parowan, UT, Lesley (Robert) Winner of Joseph City, AZ, Dawn (Cliff) Richards of Mesquite, NV, Clifton Petersen of CO, Bryant (Laura) Petersen of Holbrook, AZ; Charles (Janis) Petersen of Thatcher, AZ; 14 grandchildren: Raegan, Tatum, Logan, Ellyot, Levi, Weston, Jack, Isabella, Masen, Alayna, Charlotte, Taylor, Annabelle (deceased-2011) and Alex.
