Andrew
Cosen
Aug 31, 1939 — Jul 7, 2026
Andrew Cosen, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and respected member of the Cedar Creek and Canyon Day communities, entered eternal rest peacefully at his home on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, surrounded by his family. He was 86 years old.
Andrew was born on August 31, 1939, in Canyon Day, Arizona to Juana Clarkson (Riley) and Thomas Cosen Sr. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 48 years, Regina Cosen (Altaha), his grandson, Leon Cosen; his parents, his siblings, and other cherished family members. We find comfort in knowing he has been reunited with them in God's eternal kingdom.
On April 15, 1960, Andrew married the love of his life, Regina, in Cedar Creek, Arizona. Together they built a life centered on faith, love, and family. Their marriage was a beautiful testament to devotion and partnership, and together they raised a family that became Andrew's greatest pride and joy.
He is survived by his children: Richard (Eva) Cosen, Robert (Anita) Cosen, Bernadine (Matthew) Johnson, Anne Cosen, and Jocelyn (Christopher) Joe. He also leaves behind twelve grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immeasurable happiness to his life. His love, guidance, and unwavering support will continue to live on through each generation of his family.
Andrew graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School in 1959 and continued his education at Haskell Indian Nations University and Arizona State University. He dedicated his professional life to serving others through the Indian Health Services, where he faithfully worked for many years before retiring in 2016. His commitment to public service reflected his compassion, integrity, and desire to improve the lives of those in his community.
Outside of work, Andrew found joy in spending time with his family and enjoyed his favorite pastimes; attending the Alchesay Falcon basketball games, football games, and baseball games. He was a devoted fan of the NFL Raiders, faithfully supporting the team through its years in Oakland and Las Vegas. He also cheered enthusiastically for the Los Angeles Dodgers and never missed an opportunity to enjoy WWE wrestling. His sense of humor, warm personality, and playful spirit made every family gathering brighter.
Andrew will be remembered most for his kindness, generosity, and gentle heart. He had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued. His quick wit, infectious smile, and genuine compassion left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He lived a life marked by humility, hard work, and unwavering love for his family.
A public viewing will be held on Monday, July 20, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Cedar Creek Assembly of God Church. Funeral services will immediately follow at 10:00 a.m., officiated by Pastor Ron Burnette. Andrew will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife, Regina, and his grandson at the R-14 Family Plot in Cedar Creek.
The Cosen family extends its heartfelt gratitude to Accord Hospice and N'Dee Homecare for the compassionate care, kindness, and support they provided during Andrew's final days. Your dedication brought comfort and peace to both Andrew and his loved ones, and your generosity will always be remembered.
Though Andrew has departed this earthly life, his legacy of love, laughter, faith, and service will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and never forgotten.
