d. January 18, 2026

Lakeside

Albert “Al” James Cottam, age 79, of Lakeside, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at Summit Healthcare. He was born on June 22, 1946, in Santa Barbara, CA to Albert Jerome and Eleanor Lucille Cottam.

We celebrate Al—a man whose character, faith, and devotion to family shaped all of us by his example. We come with gratitude for a life well lived and a legacy that left its mark on each of us.

Family was Al’s greatest treasure. He didn’t just speak about family—he lived it. He gave freely of his time and had a way of making each person feel valued, loved, and cared for.

Al was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints where he served others in many capacities.

Al served in the Vietnam War in the Army as a transport driver. He was proud to be a veteran and was also extremely proud of his grand children who have Served or are serving in the different branches of the US Military.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dianna Mabey.

Survivors include his wife Jenny Cottam married for 56 years; one son, Jay (Mary) Cottam; four daughters, Sandi (Brian) Brimhall, Tami (Dave) Hudson, Kristi (Jeff) Hurt, Kimberly (Daniel) Jensen. Surviving Siblings Ken Cottam, Rosemary Beaver, John(Pam) Cottam. And many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends

A graveside service with full military honors will be held at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, in Cave Creek. Services are under the direction of Owens Livingston Mortuary of Show Low.
